Monochrome dressing, or wearing an outfit that consists of pieces from the same colour palette, has been a huge trend in the past few years. It doesn’t take a lot of effort to style a monochrome outfit and it’s great for a time of uncertainty. The key to master this trend is to layer in different textures and tones from the same colour scheme. It is a safe way to experiment with fashion if you’re looking to make a change. Even though it doesn’t have the same impact as dressing in bright colours or combining crazy prints, it can make for a stylish, effortless look. Besides, dressing completely in one colour has one major benefit as it forms to your silhouette which makes you appear slimmer and taller.
Another type of monochrome dressing is the black-and-white trend. Shout out to all fellow minimalists out there who are loving this trend just as much as I am. Some may find it hard to make a black and white outfit look interesting, but if styled right it can be a very powerful fashion statement. You could decide to mix patterns, like black and white stripes or polka dots to create a quirky, playful look. Another popular style is to wear an all white outfit with pops of black colour using accessories. Unlike any other colours, black and white aren’t seasonal and can be worn all year round. This allows every clothing item that you buy in either shade to be a timeless asset to your wardrobe – and you can never have enough classic pieces.
