Welcome to the new Rebecca Laurey! I have been flakey, I know. I have been prioritizing social media over my own actual website. And I missed it!I miss writing blurbs about all things (ir)relevant to me. I miss shooting editorials, just for the sake of it. I’ve been focused so much on getting it right for the gram that I sort of forgot about this space. I mean, not completely, I have uploaded a bit here and there, but not as much as I wanted to. And I could use the excuse “time, I don’t know where to find it”, but that would just be some bullshit excuse. Because you should make the time for things important to you.
“You should make the time for things important to you.”
This website is how it all started for me! About 7 (or was it 8?) years ago I started my blog as a little side project. I was working in fashion at the time, in event marketing for a big Dutch fashion brand, but was missing that creative aspect in my job. I was doing mostly event marketing, so focused on store openings and events, instead of working with the actual product itself. And exactly that is what made me start my blog. Because I wanted to be more creative, do styling, but I was missing that in my full-time job. So my blog was supposed to fill that gap. I had one friend who had a blog too, but apart from that I was very unfamiliar with the whole thing. Social media wasn’t really a thing, apart from Facebook. I didn’t know about working with brands or any of the perks that come with what I do now. I didn’t know about the gifting and the travels, let alone making money with this hobby project.
I just started it out of passion, seeking contact with like minded people. Most of my friends don’t work in fashion, they are interested in it up to a certain level but don’t really cared as much as I did I guess. So it wasn’t really a topic of conversation. My blog was a place I would use to have that interaction. After a few weeks already I figured there were so many other girls looking for the same, our own little online community. And it was so much smaller than it is now! Everything changed since then. I slowly started to get in touch with brands that reached out to me, figured I could put more effort into photography than just using my old cam I got for my vacations. I started speaking to brands about projects, started receiving gifts etc. One thing lead to the other basically.
And now we’re here! A couple of years later, 4 blog designs in, a new shoe collection on the shelves and so many plans in my head. The “re-launch” of this space is just one of them. I plan on sharing some of my looks, just like you’re used to from me, but also many other things that are on my mind. I’d also love to share some of my favorite recipes at some point, travel tips etc. Make this space my little world. Hope you’ll enjoy! Thanks for following and your support, it means the world!
