Is it lingerie? Is it a dress? Is it both or neither? For years the slip dress has been a strong trend and it looks like it is here to stay. I’m a big fan of this type of dress due to several reasons. The style and the way it fits my body makes me feel powerful and feminine. It is versatile, easy to throw on, and appropriate for almost any occasion when styled right. Here are some tips!
The slip dress is seasonal.
So if you were wanting to throw yours in the back of the closet because winter is fast approaching, don’t. This would be the appropriate time to start perfecting your layering skills. You could wear a tight turtleneck underneath the dress or throw over an oversized sweater.
Wear your slip dress over jeans!
At first I also thought that this couldn’t possibly be a good combination. However, proportion is key to master this look. Make sure to keep into consideration the right length of the dress, the type of jeans, and colour scheme.
The type of shoes can determine your whole look…
There is one particular item that almost serves as an important accessory. The shoes can determine weather your wearing your slip dress to the mall or to a wedding. The great thing about this dress is that almost any shoe goes. I personally love to pair my slip dresses with a pair of white sneakers.
Bonus tip: Since this type of dress is already such a fashion statement on its own, try not to go crazy with mixing prints and patterns when combining it with other clothing pieces.! Aim for a monochrome or neutral colour scheme, it can make your look less hectic!
