The title isn’t referring to myself, but to the statue this look was shot in front of. Just so we get that out of the way and can focus on what it really is all about: the light. How gorgeous is it? The golden hour on another level, shot in Paris on my birthday. I think it’s one of my favorite shoots ever. For me a proper shoots have to have a couple of the following ingredients: good lighting, a bit of an edge, a bit sexy, fierce, a good location, a good photographer. Now let’s go by them one by one shall we? First up, the light – yeah, not much to add here. The boots make this look a bit more edgy than high heels would, so there you go. The see-through lace top and skirt provide just that amount of sexy without it being tacky (I hope). Fierce, I guess it’s all about the expression. I know we as bloggers (or at least most of them) are not models, nor do we want to be, but it’s just too much fun to play around and see the effect of the different things you try afterwards, rather than having the exact same expression every single time. A good location, this goes without saying, could be anywhere in Paris. The city is the most gorgeous one I’ve ever been too, I think it might even beat Rome. A good photographer. Now this is something some girls might have excess to through money, you can obviously pay (emerging) photographers to shoot your look. This is something I’ve never had to do because my boyfriend shoots me, so lucky. He’s not a photographer, not a professional one at least, but he’s creative. I guess the latter is what works so well for me. We’ve developed so much since we started. It might have something to do with chemistry though, some combinations just work (and this one definitely does for me, in so many ways). And I don’t want to pretend I know everything whatsoever, I’ve had people helping me out, teaching me stuff. Like Zanita, who’s been such a big sport and my teacher in so many ways. She’s extremely talented and was willing to teach me some of her tricks. I guess what I’m trying to say here more than anything, is that I’m thankful. Looking at these pics, see how far we’ve came up until now, with so much to learn still, I’m happy. I’m so grateful to have a bunch of talented people around me, helping me become the person I want to be, both personally and professionally. And I’m not there yet, nor do I think I ever will, but we’re growing, learning and applying. That’s what life is all about, isn’t it?
