Carolina Herrera is an iconic fashion designer born and raised in Venezuela. She started paving her way through the fashion industry by working as a publicist for fellow friend and Italian fashion designer Emilio Pucci in 1965. In 1980, she decided to move to the big apple and worked in Pucci’s boutique. She was inspired by artists such as Andy Warhol, who were taking over the artistic scene at the time. Carolina made the best dressed list, which caught the attention of Vogue’s Editor in Chief Diana Vreeland who encouraged her to start her own fashion line. Soon after, Carolina launched her very first clothing line which debuted in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The collection did extremely well and her reputation continued to grow as a remarkable designer. In 1986, she was aged to design Caroline Kennedy’s wedding gown, which marked one of the biggest highlights in her career. This venture inspired her to launch a bridal collection, which received incredible praise from the public. Throughout her career she launches several fragrances for both the male and female market. In 2000, she opens her first flagship store on Madison Avenue and 75th street in a large, four story building. A year later she expands to international grounds by introducing. “CH Carolina Herrera”, a lifestyle collection with ready – to – wear accessories for men, women and children in Madrid Spain. In 2011, she expands her brand by launching a modern eyewear collection. Carolina Herrera has received multiple awards for her remarkable career of 37 years in fashion and the influence she has had as a designer. In 2018 after the launch of her Fall 2018 collection, she announces her retirement and appoints American designer Wes Gordon as Creative Director.
